Tomás González Cueto | Partner

Tomás is a State Attorney (Abogado del Estado) and, before joining MAIO Legal, he founded and led GC Legal for 10 years; prior to that, he was the Partner in charge of Public Law at Jiménez de Parga. Previously, he had been General Secretary and Secretary of the Board of NAVANTIA, S.A.

From 2002 to 2006 he was State Attorney before the Supreme Court. Also in the public sector, he was Director General of Legislative Policy and International Legal Cooperation at the Ministry of Justice, and Technical Secretary General of the Ministries of the Presidency, of Education and Culture, and of Public Administrations. He was also Chief State Attorney at the Ministry of Public Administrations and State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice and in Valladolid.

He has chaired the Legal Committee of the General Council of Spanish Lawyers, and has also been a member of the Editorial Board of “Abogacía Española”.

He has been President of the Spanish Court of Sports Arbitration and of the Mediation and Arbitration Commission of the Spanish Olympic Committee; Member of the UEFA Legal Committee, of the FIFA Football Tribunal and of the FIBA Legal Commission. He is a member of the Appeals Committee of the International Volleyball Federation. In addition, he has been a member of the Administrative Court for Sport and, before that, President of the Electoral Guarantees Board of the CSD.

He has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Spanish Association of Foundations.
